The Pennsylvania Lottery is introducing a new national draw game just in time for football season.
Beginning September 8, players across Pennsylvania can purchase tickets for Powerball X’s & O’s™, a new $5 game that features a multi-state progressive jackpot starting at $1 million and growing until it is won.
Lottery officials say the game combines football-themed play with the chance to win cash prizes and bonus rewards. In addition to the jackpot, players can enter both winning and non-winning tickets online for opportunities to win promotional prizes, including gift cards and a trip to the Super Bowl.
“The launch of Powerball X’s & O’s gives our players a fresh, exciting way to join the fun this season,” said Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko. “We’re always looking for ways to deliver innovative games that add to the thrill of play while helping generate proceeds that benefit older Pennsylvanians.”
The first weekly drawing is scheduled for September 13, at 10 p.m. ET. Ticket sales for each drawing close at 8:59 p.m. ET on drawing nights.
To play, participants select eight NFL team logos from a field of 32 teams or use the Quick Pick option. There are five prize levels, with players winning prizes by matching four to eight team logos drawn.
Prize levels include:
Match 8 of 8 teams: Progressive jackpot
Match 7 of 8 teams: $20,000
Match 6 of 8 teams: $500
Match 5 of 8 teams: $40
Match 4 of 8 teams: $7
The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 10,518,300, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 12.16.
Powerball X’s & O’s will be available in 24 lottery jurisdictions at launch, with additional lotteries expected to join later this fall.
