What Damages May Families Seek After a Fatal Crash in Bethlehem, PA?

Families who lose a loved one in a fatal crash may face significant financial and personal losses. Depending on the circumstances, eligible family members may be able to seek compensation for expenses and losses connected to the death.

Medical treatment provided after a fatal injury can result in substantial expenses. Hospital care, diagnostic testing, medications, emergency treatment, and other services provided before the victim’s death may create costs that families may need to document. Keeping medical bills, records, and other treatment-related documents together can help provide a clear record of these expenses.

Funeral and burial expenses can add another financial burden. Families may also lose income the deceased would have provided, along with other contributions to the household, depending on the circumstances. Pay stubs, tax records, employment documents, and other financial records may help show the financial support the deceased provided before the death.

Along with documenting financial losses, evidence from the crash may help establish the events leading to the death. Photographs, witness statements, available video, medical records, and information about the vehicles involved can provide useful documentation when evaluating a potential claim. Preserving these records early may also help keep important details available as the claim is reviewed.

Insurance coverage may also be relevant after a fatal crash involving multiple vehicles. The policies covering the vehicles involved and any other applicable coverage may need to be reviewed to determine what sources of compensation could be available. Keeping copies of policy documents, claim correspondence, and other communications can make it easier to organize this information.

As the family gathers these records, questions may arise about which losses can be included in a claim and what documentation may be needed. A wrongful death lawyer can review the available records and explain what legal options may apply. An attorney may also help families organize documentation related to medical expenses, funeral costs, lost income, and other losses.
