Scranton restaurant that was shut down by D.A.’s office can reopen under strict conditions, officials say

The Lackawanna County D.A.’s office has reached an agreement with Isla Paraiso, allowing the business to continue as a restaurant while ending nightclub operations.

SCRANTON, Pa. — A restaurant in Scranton will partially reopen after recently being shut down due to multiple disturbances.

Isla Paraiso, along South Main Avenue, operated as a restaurant during the day but would transform into a nightclub from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. 

The business was shut down earlier this month by the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office after the Scranton Police Department received 28 calls for service at the location, including reports of early-morning noise complaints, fights, and even gunfire.

Now, the D.A.’s Office says the establishment can reopen, but only as a restaurant.

Authorities say the property can no longer be used as a nightclub, event space, bar, lounge, after-hours club, BYOB establishment, or any similar operation.
