SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Lackawanna County District Attorney announced they have reached an agreement with Isla Paraiso to end operations for their nightclub, while keeping the restaurant open.
The establishment was temporarily shut down last week because of several violations, leading to Thursday’s agreement.
In their three months of nightclub operations, District Attorney Brian Gallagher said the Scranton Police Department received 28 calls to the location. The calls included two reports of gunfire and several fights, noise complaints, and public intoxication.

Isla Paraiso also received multiple liquor control violations and violated its occupancy limit.
Since all infractions occurred between 10:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. while operating as a nightclub, and there were no issues while operating as a restaurant, the restaurant will be allowed to stay open.
According to the court order, Isla Paraiso is now prohibited from the following:
Selling or serving alcohol
Patrons cannot bring their own alcohol
DJ equipment must be removed
Cannot remain open past 10:00 p.m.
Must submit to random inspections from the city and county
“This agreement strikes the proper balance: it holds the business accountable for the conditions that affected the surrounding neighborhood while allowing it to continue operating as a restaurant under strict limitations,” Gallagher said.
The Pisanchyn Lawfirm, who represented the restaurant, issued a statement calling the resolution a “win for this Hispanic small business as well as the community.”
“This resolution makes clear that the fault for what has transpired in this case lies with a few unruly persons, who were not associated with this small business itself,” the statement read.
