SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Bob Bolus, a renowned Scranton businessman and philanthropist, died Thursday night at 83, according to a longtime friend.
Bolus was best known for his staunch political activism, his nationwide trucking and towing company, and his generous philanthropy.
Notably, Bolus hosted his annual “Christmas Dinner” in Scranton for 32 years, an event that served thousands free meals and camaraderie to combat loneliness on Christmas night.
Bolus also ran for Scranton mayor several times, although he was unsuccessful. He frequented political protests and rallies with large, decorated trucks in support of President Donald Trump.
The cause of death and a service date are unknown.
