A motorcyclist and a motor scooter rider died after two separate crashes that occurred in the Allentown area Friday night.
In the first crash at 9:05 p.m., a 39-year-old man was riding a motorcycle when it was involved in a crash with another vehicle in the 1100 block of East Susquehanna Street, Salisbury Township, according to a news release from Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio.
The man was taken to St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill, where he was pronounced dead at 10:08 p.m., Buglio said.
The second crash happened around 11:35 p.m. in the 1600 block of South Fourth Street in Allentown. A 42-year-old woman was riding a motor scooter that was involved in a crash with a vehicle.
She was pronounced dead at 3:01 a.m. Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Buglio said.
The coroner’s office declined to name the victims Saturday, saying it wanted to give their relatives “time to notify additional family members and privately grieve this sudden and tragic loss.”
Autopsies are scheduled for both individuals Monday at the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensic Center.
The Salisbury Township and Allentown police departments, and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office are assisting in the investigation and crash reconstruction.
