FORECAST SUMMARY

We saw a bit of rain late Saturday night into Sunday morning with some areas picking up some heavy downpours. Those north of I-80, then far eastern Pennsylvania, and a good chunk of New Jersey generally received between a half inch to three-quarters of an inch of total rainfall. There were, however, isolated higher amounts of an inch to an inch and a half and we even had flash flood warnings being issued for parts of the I-95 corridor early Sunday morning. Interestingly enough, the rainfall amounts dropped off drastically just south and west of the Lehigh Valley with many across Berks County, Upper Bucks/Mont, Schuylkill County, and Lebanon and Lancaster Counties not even seeing a tenth of an inch. Sunshine will be the rule into our work and school week with a much more comfortable feel in place as well. High temperatures will mostly be in the mid 70s to low 80s with plenty of sun through mid-week. Slight shower chances start to uptick Thursday night into early Friday.  

DETAILED FORECAST

EARLY WEEK

Monday and Tuesday look to be some really nice days to start the last full week of summer, with mostly sunny skies, lower humidity and cooler temperatures. Monday will be a bit breezy, but as cool high pressure gradually works atop the region by Monday night, that breeze will subside. High temperatures Monday and Tuesday look to be in or around the mid 70s in the afternoon. Skies will be mainly clear Monday night, and with plenty of dry air in place along with subsiding winds, many of us should see low temperatures dip down into at least the upper 40s. Tuesday night should also be refreshingly cool under mainly clear skies and light winds with lows dipping down into the lower 50s.

MID TO LATE WEEK

High pressure looks to remain in control for Wednesday as it slowly moves off the coast. This will lead to a return to a southwest wind flow which in turn will tick our temperatures and humidity slowly upward getting into the latter part of the week. Wednesday should remain dry with mostly sunny skies, but high temperatures will return closer to 80 degrees and nighttime lows won’t be as cool returning to the lower 60s. Thursday will be a seasonably warm and more humid day with high temperatures reaching the low to mid 80s. While a lot of the day looks dry, a cold front approaching from the north and west later day may bring a shower or thunderstorm by the evening into the nighttime. A shower may linger into Friday morning; otherwise, look for a mix of clouds and sun Friday with high temperatures around 80 degrees and humidity gradually dropping to more comfortable levels as the day progresses.
