A woman was fatally injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning on Route 73 in Oley Township, Central Berks Regional police said.
The crash happened at 6:18 a.m. at Philadelphia Avenue (Route 73) and Snyder Road, about 2 ½ miles east of the village of Oley.
Police said the driver of a sedan, a 42-year-old woman who later died of her injuries in Reading Hospital, was southbound on Snyder. As she attempted to cross Route 73, she was broadsided on the driver’s side by a westbound small pickup truck driven by a 22-year-old man.
Both drivers were taken by ambulances to Reading Hospital. A hospital physician pronounced the woman dead.
Information on the other driver’s condition wasn’t immediately available. Police were withholding the names of both drivers.
The intersection was closed for several hours while police were on the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
