Today 34 community organizations were awarded over $44 million from the Department of Veterans Affairs to help Veterans who are homeless or who are at risk of becoming homeless in Pennsylvania.
The funding is part of a record-high in grants that have been awarded to 680 organizations throughout the country working to combat Veteran homelessness.
Grants like this help to prevent the loss of a home, identify more suitable housing for Veterans and their families, and rapidly re-house Veterans and their families who are homeless and could remain homeless without assistance.
“Erie VA Medical Center joins VA medical centers across Pennsylvania in their commitment to ensuring Veterans have access to safe, stable housing and the supportive services they need to thrive,” said John A. Gennaro, Director of Erie VA Medical Center. “These grants strengthen our partnerships with community organizations and help us reach Veterans where they are, providing resources that make a meaningful difference in their lives.”
