The man who shares a child with missing D.C. mother Antoinette Forbes was arrested out of state, sources tell WUSA9.
Forbes was last seen on Sept. 4 in Northwest D.C. Family and friends have been searching for her, holding a vigil last Saturday for the 53-year-old mother.
Pennsylvania State Police confirm Russell Ashford is in custody at the Beaver County Jail on an out-of-state warrant. Sources tell us he is the father of Forbes’ 10-year-old son.
It is unclear what exactly the warrant for Ashford’s arrest entails, but it comes more than a week after Forbes disappeared.
“We are in agonizing pain. I can’t imagine you know where she is,” said Forbes’ friend Rachel Clark.
Her close friends traveled from across the country over the weekend to National Presbyterian Church, where Forbes is a member. They say the support surrounding her family shows just how many people are missing her.
“I think having everyone here from all different parts of the country, every piece of her life,” said Clark. “I mean that speaks to who Antoinette is. Antoinette is deeply loved. She’s a devoted mom, sister, friend.”
Forbes’ sister, who traveled from New York, says she last spoke with Forbes on Sept. 5, while they were making plans to spend Christmas together. But there’s been no word from Forbes since. Her family says when they couldn’t reach her, a close friend went to her home and found it empty.
Even more concerning, Forbes’ dog was still there, along with her wallet, phone, keys and car. Things her family says would be unusual for her to leave behind. Now, her loved ones are asking the public to keep paying attention because even the smallest detail could help bring her home.
“We miss her deeply; we are eager to bring her home,” said Clark.
