Is the pumpkin spice latte no longer the top fall drink like it used to be?
That’s the suggestion I’ve seen lately. The Washington Post reported that matcha and chai might be becoming more popular, and search interest for “banana coffee syrup” surpassed “pumpkin spice coffee syrup.” USA TODAY reported that McDonald’s left pumpkin spice off its menu for the first time in a decade in favor of apple pie flavors.
I am not the target audience for fall drinks from a cafe — indeed, a Keurig pod is typically good enough for me. But I’m not sure pumpkin drinks are dead. As Click2Houston reported, Starbucks brought back its pumpkin spice lattes in late August and said it had its strongest fall menu launch day ever in the United States and Canada.
Fall is a long season with plenty of days and plenty of hours in those days, so I think there’s room for more than one flavor. Here are some spots in the Lehigh Valley to enjoy them.
Sip + Dip has begun offering pumpkin ice cream cake and pumpkin bowls with granola, green apple and Biscoff at at Whitehall Plaza at 2407 MacArthur Road in Whitehall Township.
The shop also offers acai bowls, coffee, waffles, crepes, pancakes on a stick with toppings like Nutella, handcrafted drinks such as refreshers and Dubai chocolate cups.
The Cozy Crumbs Café offers pumpkin spice lattes and iced coffees as well as banana bread lattes and matcha at the ArtsWalk at 21 N. Seventh St. in Allentown.
The cafe also serves coffee, hot chocolate, bubble tea, desserts, sandwiches, calzones, meat pies and salads.
North Street Cafe is serving pumpkin spice coffee, beignets with pumpkin spice glaze, caramel apple-stuffed French toast and pumpkin-pecan pancakes at 46 W. North St. in Bethlehem.
Other offerings include eggs, waffles, wraps, burgers, gyros, quesadillas and salads.
Let’s Go Coffee Co. announced fall drinks such as salted maple spice matcha and lattes, pumpkin spice lattes and chaider at 358 Main St. in Emmaus.
It also serves coffee, teas, cookies, cakes, cupcakes, muffins and cinnamon rolls.
Plants + Coffee serves drinks such as pumpkin spice and white pumpkin lattes, maple bun lattes, pumpkin roll chai, pumpkin cookie butter lattes, pecan pie lattes and black cherry chai lattes at 1458 Northampton St. in Easton.
The menu also includes coffee, teas, lemonade, spritzers and various bagel styles.
Roasties serves pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin pie chai, banana matcha, maple and hazelnut lattes, cold brews with salted maple bourbon syrup and pumpkin cream cheese scones at 17 N. Poplar St. in Macungie.
The cafe also offers burritos, bagels, cookies and croissants.
Nowhere Coffee Co. offers fall drinks flavors such as maple sage, pumpkin and vanilla and apple molasses at 3127 Tilghman St. in South Whitehall Township and 17 S. Ninth St. in Allentown.
A’ Latte Cafe announced drinks such as caramel apple chai lattes, salted maple cold brews, pumpkin cheesecake iced lattes and pumpkin affogato at 116 E. Broad St. in Quakertown.
It also offers banana bread lattes, hot chocolate, refreshers, cinnamon rolls, cookies, brownies, biscotti, ice cream and milkshakes.
Bitty & Beau’s Coffee serves pumpkin spice lattes and frappes as well as maple cream cold brews at 74 W. Broad St. in Bethlehem.
Java Joint announced fall flavors like pumpkin spice and s’mores mocha at 7370 Hamilton Blvd. in Upper Macungie Township.
It also offers cortados, hot chocolate, Italian soda, refreshers and smoothies.
Circle Cafe on Main in Nazareth announced its “Pumpkin Brown Sugar Shake” at 2 N. Main St. in Nazareth.
Other options include deviled eggs, salads, soups, sandwiches and meatloaf.
