Philadelphia voters who want to cast a mail ballot in November can now get one in person at any of the city’s 10 Satellite Election Offices, the City Commissioners announced Monday.

The option gives voters who have not already applied for a mail ballot a way to apply for and complete their ballot in one visit. Once finished, voters can return the ballot using a secure drop box outside the office.

Ballots are being printed and mailed out this week for voters who have already applied to receive a ballot by mail.  Election officials are encouraging those voters to watch their mail over the coming days.

“Our job as City Commissioners is to make voting as simple, accessible, and transparent as possible,” said Commissioners’ Chairman Omar Sabir. “Given the potential for confusion from recent news headlines about voting by mail, it’s important that all Philadelphians understand that it’s still possible to vote by mail, and the process for doing so is now underway.”

In addition to the County Board of Elections office in City Hall, Room 142, the Commissioners operate 10 Satellite Election Offices across the city, with one in each Council District. 

Satellite Election Offices can provide several mail-ballot services, including applying for a ballot, completing a ballot and returning a completed ballot.

Vice Chair Lisa Deeley encouraged voters to start planning how they will vote, whether by mail, at a Satellite Election Office or in person on Election Day.

“The name of the game is preparation, not panic,” Deeley said. “Voters have 50 days to prepare and make a plan for how they are going to make their voices heard in this November’s election.”
