NAZARETH, Pa. – Police in a Northampton County borough are welcoming a new K-9 to the force.
The Nazareth Borough Police Department said its newest member is K-9 Valo.
Valo is a 11-month-old Dutch Shepherd/Belgian Malinois hybrid who arrived from the Netherlands about two weeks ago, borough police said in a news release.
Officer and K-9 Handler Hartzell officially took possession of Valo Monday.
Police said the pair will spend the next two weeks acclimating and building their partnership before beginning official K-9 training in early October.

K-9 Valo is the first police K-9 in the history of the Nazareth Borough Police Department, and his arrival marks the official beginning of the department’s K-9 Program, police said.
“We are incredibly proud to reach this milestone and look forward to the many ways this program will benefit our officers, residents, and surrounding communities,” police said.
“We are excited to welcome K-9 Valo to the Nazareth Borough Police Department and are confident that he will be an amazing asset to our daily operations.”
