The Erie man charged in connection with a December 2025 fatal hit-and-run of a bicyclist in downtown Erie has signed a guilty plea at his preliminary hearing on Monday.
The Erie County District Attorney’s Office said 50-year-old Daryl Terry pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle and possession of marijuana and a summary driving offense for the fatal crash near the corner of West 8th and Liberty streets.

Terry was initially charged with felony accidents involving death and several misdemeanors, though that felony charge was changed to homicide by vehicle.
With the guilty plea, court documents show prosecutors withdrew four misdemeanor charges and several summary offenses.
At the time of the crash, police said Terry was driving eastbound on a one-way westbound part of West 8th Street on December 9, 2025, when he struck 66-year-old Richard Gaska, then fled the scene. Gaska was taken to UPMC Hamot, where he was later pronounced dead that same evening.

Terry allegedly hid the Dodge Durango he was driving that night in Harbocreek Township, which was found by police in January and charges were filed against Terry in March.
Terry still faces his formal arraignment at a later date, after which prosecutors said he will officially enter his guilty plea.
