Massive 381-ton superload to travel through Western Pennsylvania on Wednesday
If you’re driving in Western Pennsylvania on Wednesday, you may encounter a superload being transported through multiple counties.
The 381-ton superload will slowly make its way along several main roads as it travels to the site of a data center and power plant project in Homer City.
The massive load is 205 feet long and 17 feet wide. The planned route will take it through Armstrong, Westmoreland and Indiana counties, in parts of Leechburg, Apollo, Delmont and Blairsville.
PennDOT says the journey will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday and will continue on Thursday, with traffic delays and detours along the way. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible.

What is the superload’s route?
Here’s how PennDOT says the superload will travel through Western Pennsylvania on Wednesday.
From Schenley to Route 66 through Leechburg and Apollo to Delmont, then on to Route 22Continuing to the Westmoreland/Indiana county line on Route 22 toward BlairsvillePull off at a staging area near Blairsville; more equipment will be installed to be transportedTravel resumes at 7 p.m. on Route 22/119
PennDOT says drivers will be unable to pass the superload as it slowly makes its way along Route 22/119 past Blairsville to the staging area along Route 119. If you’re behind it, expect to move at a very slow speed.
There will also be a rolling slowdown on Route 22 East while the superload crosses the bridge over the Conemaugh River.
“All vehicles travelling on Route 22/119 west of the Indiana County line will detour using Bairdstown Road/West Market Street to East Market Street/Old William Penn Highway to the Route 22/119 interchange,” PennDOT said.
Superload route: Day 2
The huge load is set to continue its travels at 9 a.m. Thursday, taking Campbells Mill Road (Route 3011) to Blacklick Road (Route 3013) to the Homer City Power Plant.
PennDOT says all vehicles will be detoured at the Route 119 intersection with Campbells Mill Road south to Route 22 West.
The detour will send drivers across Route 22 West, then north on Route 217 to Blacklick Road.
