The Erie County Board of Elections is considering new technology for ballot drop-off.
The Sentinel Smart Mail Ballot system is one option officials are looking at.
Chairman Chris Drexel says the technology could add another layer of security and potentially allow for more ballot drop-off locations.
A local library is one location under consideration, with security cameras already in place.
The equipment would cost more than 90-thousand dollars, plus installation costs at each location.
Drexel says taxpayers would not cover the full cost.
The next step is to review other options and hear from Luzerne County, the only other Pennsylvania county currently using the system.
