Seamus Wallace of West Scranton edged Mid Valley’s Jacob Borrelli in a matchup of Times-Tribune All-Region boys runners from last year, but the Spartans earned two wins over Scranton Prep and Holy Cross in a Lackawanna League boys cross country meet Tuesday.
Wallace won the 3.1-mile race at Mid Valley in 17:38.71. Borrelli finished .22 seconds behind Wallace in 17:38.93. Mid Valley then had four of the next six runners cross the finish line.
Thomas Gavin placed seventh to help Holy Cross win twice. Nick Michel finished third as Scranton Prep won once.

At Lakeland, Henry Decker was the overall winner in 16:43, but Jack Davies and Andrew Connor were the next two runners across the finish line to help Riverside earn three wins.
Decker’s victory enabled Lakeland to win twice. Lackawanna Trail also had two wins with Chase Litwin’s fourth-place finish leading the Lions.

At Mountain View, Evan Beamer of Susquehanna was the race winner in 16:46, but Abington Heights and North Pocono each won three times.
Joseph Grad and Dylan Spatz finished second and third, respectively, for the Comets. Gavin Best placed fifth for the Trojans. Valley View’s top finisher was Michael Head in 11th as the Cougars won twice.

At Mid Valley, Vella Byrne and Aileana Connor finished 1-2 to help Scranton Prep earn wins over Mid Valley, Scranton and West Scranton on Tuesday in a Lackawanna League girls meet.
Meg Bartlebaugh finished third and Bianca Perez took fourth as Scranton won once. Holy Cross also secured two wins with Gemma Bistran placing sixth to lead the Lady Crusaders.

At Lakeland, Rylin Wech’s second-place finish helped the Lady Chiefs beat Dunmore, Old Forge and Riverside.
Lackawanna Trail also had three wins with Angelina Cours’ fourth-place effort leading the Lady Lions.
Kaitlyn Kloss won the race in 20:34, helping Western Wayne post a pair of victories.
