The Giant Company is taking action to help eliminate hunger.
Giant employees spent a recent morning volunteering at the Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank, packing boxes to the brim with cereal, juice, crackers and other items to be distributed to members of the community in need. They also presented the Spring Township nonprofit with a $35,000 donation to support its fight against hunger.
Their effort was done to celebrate Hunger Action Month, with the company thanking Helping Harvest for all it does to eliminate hunger in communities throughout Berks and Schuylkill counties.
Hunger Action Month is the Feeding America nationwide network’s awareness campaign designed to mobilize the public to act on the issue of hunger. Giant has dozens of donation, volunteer and awareness activities planned throughout September to put a focus on the fight against hunger.
In addition to the monetary donation, Giant collaborated with the nonprofit Grow-a-Row to deliver a truckload of fresh produce.
