It’s the final weekend of summer and the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, and you can celebrate both at events this weekend in the Lehigh Valley.
West Ward Market to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Day
Before the weekend truly kicks off, the West Ward Market will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Day from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the 10th & Pine Community Garden, 923 Pine St. Enjoy an evening of live music, food, dancing, art and activities for the whole community.
The evening includes a community cooking class, live music from Herencia Jibara, free salsa and merengue dance classes, and a presentation from the Easton Area Community Center on Latinx-focused programming and kids activities with the YMCA. Amigos Mexican Grille will serve $3 tacos, while fresh produce offerings will include 3-for-$1 hot peppers from Easton Garden Works.

Celebrate Allentown’s link to the Liberty Bell at this new festival
The Liberty Bell was hidden in an Allentown church for nearly nine months during the American Revolution, and a new festival this summer seeks to highlight that important history.
The inaugural Liberty Bell Festival will take place 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in Downtown Allentown, offering a free day of history, live music, food, local makers and community celebration. The festival will begin with a flag-raising ceremony at Allentown City Hall before a processional led by the Brandywine Colonials will take attendees through downtown to Zion’s Church, where historian and storyteller Joshua Fink will share the story of the Liberty Bell and its journey to Allentown.

Entertainment includes music from The Swingtime Dolls, Seth Witcher, Antar Goodwin Band and The Faithful Sinners and The Weekenders at 4 p.m. Food and refreshments will be available from Uno Taqueria, Milk Train, A Town Promotions, Hany Honey, Christmas City Spirits, Mishka Vodka, Food Disciples, Boris Cake and The Sticky Pig.

Emmaus bids farewell to summer
Emmaus Main Street Partners will host the Farewell to Summer Festival 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Emmaus Triangle Park. The free community event will feature more than 50 local vendors, food trucks and a variety of activities throughout the borough.
New this year, the festival will expand into the borough-owned Wells Fargo parking lot, creating additional space for interactive activities, including a Touch-a-Truck experience hosted by the Emmaus fire and police departments. Bring a T-shirt to participate in a free tie-dye station sponsored by Active Learning Centers.
Other activities include a free outdoor mat pilates class in Triangle Park from 11 to 11:30 a.m.; a character meet-and-greet with Moana and Spider-Man at noon in Triangle Park; a free screening of “The Goonies” at Emmaus Theatre; and the return of the popular Scarecrow Trail.

First vintage and harvest market coming to Bethlehem
Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites is partnering with Bethlehem Vintage Market for a new event Saturday at Burnside Plantation.
The Bethlehem Vintage & Harvest Market will feature thousands of vintage items and collectibles along with a DJ spinning vintage vinyl, crafts, family activities and food vendors. It grows out of the Apple Days event that previously took place at Burnside. Attendees can stroll the aisles exploring racks of vintage clothing, crates of vinyl records, booths featuring mid-century furniture and more, alongside historical activities and living history demonstrations.
The Vintage & Harvest Market also will offer more than a dozen autumn-inspired desserts, including apple and pumpkin pie, cider doughnuts, cranberry orange scones, pumpkin spice ice cream and molasses sugar cookies. Desserts also will be available to order in advance and pick up at the Market to Go 4-7 p.m. Friday at Burnside.

Lehigh Art Alliance celebrates Latino culture
The Lehigh Art Alliance will host an artist reception for the new exhibit Mosaico 5-9 p.m. Saturday at the historic Luckenbach Mill in Bethlehem.
Mosaico spotlights the richness, depth and diversity of Latino artists and creators throughout the Lehigh Valley, offering a fresh perspective on Latino creativity, heritage and connection.
Featured artists include Ismael Checo, Ramon Peralta, Monica Salazar, Jonas Arguello, Ana Hamilton, Rigo Peralta and Emmanuel Valleio. The exhibit is on view through Sept. 26.
