LOWER MERION, Pa. (WPVI) — Officials with the Lower Merion School District want a federal judge to deny a request from parents that would allow them to opt their children out of using computers in class.
In the court filing, the district accused the parents of “fearmongering” about technology in schools.
Seven families filed a lawsuit last month, claiming the district’s mandate that all students use internet-connected devices violates their constitutional rights to direct their children’s care, education and upbringing.

The new Lower Merion policy states devices would not be issued to students until 5th grade.
Some parents still want the ability to opt out of the program.
