DICKSON CITY, Pa. — People across the country are remembering the September 11th attacks 25 years ago. In our area, a piece of the World Trade Center sits right in Lackawanna County.
Inside the Dickson City Municipal Building is a steel beam from one of the Twin Towers.
The piece recovered from Ground Zero was brought here back in 2016 after years of coordination.
Those who work there say the piece never loses its impact, especially on the anniversary.
“It always is a constant reminder. If you look closely, it has a picture of everyone that perished that day. And the other has all the names of everyone that perished; I know it’s very small. But they’re always here in thought and in memory,” said Cesare Forconi, Dickson City Borough Manager.
Officials say the piece is always on display in the lobby of the building so everyone can pass by and remember the sacrifice made this day, 25 years ago.
