READING, PA. – Democratic congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan — who serves the Reading area — has introduced a bill to prevent armed federal agents from being deployed to polling places without congressional approval.
The bill is called the “Protect Our Polls Act.”
Houlahan says it comes after a senior military official refused to commit not to deploy troops to polling places.
She says the legislation reinforces a principle in federal law that Americans should be able to vote without intimidation or the presence of military force.
