United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania received a $1,000 donation from the WINGS (Waymart Inmates Nurturing Growth & Stability) program at State Correctional Institution at Waymart. Established in 2016, WINGS is a nonprofit program that raises funds for charitable organizations throughout Northeast Pennsylvania through organized fundraising sales, sponsored events and community-focused activities. The program promotes personal growth, responsibility, stability and positive citizenship while fostering meaningful connections between SCI Waymart and the surrounding community. UNC recently visited with Justin Turano, corrections activities specialist at SCI Waymart, to learn more about the mission and impact of the WINGS program and to accept the donation. The $1,000 gift will help support UNC’s wide range of programs, including early childhood education, youth development, housing assistance, workforce development, food access initiatives and senior services.
