James Thomas Durkin
OBITUARY
James Thomas Durkin, 76, of Moscow, passed away unexpectedly on September 13, 2026.
Born February 19, 1950, in North Scranton, he was the son of the late James and Winnifred Noone Durkin. His wife of 52 years was the late Judith L. “Judy” Durkin.
He was a 1968 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. He earned his associate degree in business from Lackawanna College.
Jim proudly served his country as a sergeant in the United States Air Force. Prior to retirement, he was employed as an electronic technician at Tobyhanna Army Depot for 38 years, where he also served as a union steward.
He was an active member of Moscow United Methodist Church, where he often volunteered his time.
Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved anything that involved being outdoors. He enjoyed getting out on a boat and spending days at the lake with family and friends. He was a friend to all and someone who was always there to lend a hand to anyone who needed it.
Above all, he treasured time spent with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his son, James, and wife, Janet, of Spring Brook Township; daughter, Sarah, of Scranton; grandchildren, Gavin and Laura Durkin; brother-in-law, Jeff Cox; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Judith, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Margaret Kryeski, Winnifred Klee, and Donna Boyd; and his brother, Bernard Durkin.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Duffy and Snowdon Funeral Home, 401 Church Street, Moscow, PA.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Moscow United Methodist Church with calling from 9:00 – 10:00 AM. Interment will follow immediately at Fairview Cemetery.
