ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A lockdown is lifted at William Allen High School after police responded to a report that a student may have been in possession of a weapon on their way to school.
Parents were informed about the incident Thursday morning.
A lockdown was quickly put in place while Allentown police searched the school.
The report of a weapon turned out to be unfounded, and the lockdown was lifted a short time later.
In a message to families, the Allentown School District said classes have resumed.
The Allentown Police Department, school, and administration worked collaboratively to conduct a thorough investigation, the district said.
The district is reminding people that during lockdowns or lockdown drills, no one is permitted to enter or exit the school.

Every tip is thoroughly investigated, and students are urged to report credible or suspected threats with as much detail as possible, the district said.
The district says it is a felony in Pennsylvania to report false information to law enforcement.
