NORTH EAST TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Nine people were taken to local hospitals after a crash involving a Greyhound bus and a tractor-trailer early Thursday morning on Interstate 90, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
The crash happened around 12:21 a.m. in the westbound lanes near mile marker 45.6 in North East Township.
Police said the bus was carrying 36 passengers. Nine were transported to UPMC Hamot and AHN Saint Vincent Hospital for treatment.
The tractor-trailer was carrying pallets of Factor prepared meals, and the collision scattered thousands of meals across both westbound lanes, according to troopers.
The bus, tractor-trailer and spilled cargo completely blocked the highway, forcing that section of I-90 to close for several hours, state police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
