The buzz: Lackawanna Trail won seven of the last eight meetings and leads the series, 15-13. Riverside QB Brayden Rose ran for 148 yards and threw for 143 yards in a win over Lake-Lehman last week. Lackawanna Trail has been outscored, 91-14, in the first half of its last two games.

The buzz: Honesdale leads the series, 28-23-2. Carbondale Area defeated Crestwood, 14-7, last week. Honesdale suffered its first loss of the season last week against North Pocono. Both teams are challenging for one of the eight District 2 Class 4A playoff spots.

West Scranton fell to Wyoming Valley West, 25-14, and Abington Heights lost to Dallas, 42-23. This is West Scranton’s first LFC Division I game since 2015.

Despite being without five starters, Holy Redeemer earned its first win of the season last week, beating Susquehanna, 26-7. Holy Redeemer QB Brady McDermott threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns.

The buzz: Old Forge leads the series, 10-5. The last time the teams met was in 1981, Tunkhannock’s final season in the Big 11. Old Forge’s defense has allowed 28 points total in the last two games. Old Forge junior Carter Honick has 29 tackles, two for loss this season. Tunkhannock sophomore QB Tye Cokley has 352 yards passing and two touchdowns in three games.

The buzz: Wyoming Area leads the series, 4-1, with Mid Valley’s win coming in 2013. Mid Valley bounced back from a season-opening loss to Lake-Lehman with wins over Tunkhannock Area and Old Forge. Wyoming Area scored 47 points in a Week 2 win over Hanover Area, but they were shut out in losses to Dunmore and Berwick.

It is the most points in a game for the program since beating Holy Cross, 46-6, in 2020. Holy Cross has beaten Montrose in the last three seasons.

The buzz: Scranton Prep won four of the last five meetings, and the series is tied 6-6. Scranton Prep went 2-1 against nonleague opponents with wins over Trinity of Camp Hill and Fairfield Prep. Delaware Valley lost to District 11 powers Bethlehem Catholic and Northampton, and beat East Stroudsburg South in its nonleague games.
