Two people were hospitalized Friday afternoon after a massive tree fell onto two vehicles in Montgomery County, according to Lower Merion Township’s spokesperson.
The incident was reported around 1 p.m. on Sept. 18 in the Belmont Hills area, just across the bridge from Manayunk. Officials said two people were taken to Lankenau Medical Center after the large tree came down and struck a traffic signal and two cars.

According to officials, both people who were hospitalized were in stable condition.
Belmont Avenue between Jefferson Street and Rock Hill Road will be closed for the next five to six hours while police and crews work to clear the scene and restore the traffic signal. The eastbound Belmont Avenue ramp from Interstate 76 is also closed.
