Someone was struck by a train and killed Friday morning in Colwyn.
Police and first responders were dispatched about 7:15 a.m. to the 400 block of Pine Street in Darby for a pedestrian struck by a SEPTA regional rail train north of the station.
A search for a victim went on for some time.
At 7:45 a.m., police radio traffic indicated a victim was located by Amtrak police on the side of tracks in Colwyn.
Jennifer Hoff, Colwyn borough manager, confirmed “a death by train” and said SEPTA police are handling the investigation.
The Delaware County Medical Examiner also responded to the incident, a spokesperson said.
SEPTA spokesman Joe Leonard added: “At around 7 am this morning, a Wilmington/Newark Line train struck and killed a person in the tracks just north of Darby Station. An investigation is currently underway. At this time there is no suspected foul play.”
