Students and faculty in the Gannon University community spent the day giving back to their communities as part of Gannon’s Invitation to Volunteer Everywhere, (GIVE) Day.
Members of the Gannon community rolled up their sleeves to help neighborhoods at all three campuses in Erie, Cleveland, Ohio and Ruskin, Florida.
In Erie, volunteers spent the day removing trees, branches and limbs and helping clean up parks in downtown Erie following the recent storms that caused widespread damage across the area. They tackled areas like Gridley Park.
Gannon officials said this year’s cleanup efforts were especially important because of the storm damage.
This marks the 29th year the Erie campus has participated in GIVE Day. It was also the first year for Gannon’s Ursuline campus in Cleveland, Ohio, to take part.
The annual event gives students, faculty and staff an opportunity to work together and make a difference in the communities where they live and learn.
