PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — The case against two suspects charged in the killing of a Penn State student in South Philadelphia is moving forward.
Kaiseem Smith and Azzubair Outen-Fleming waived their preliminary hearing on Thursday.
Investigators allege that Smith fired the shots that killed 22-year-old Billy Schmidt on the 1900 block of Durfor Street in June.
In a related development, a judge ordered Outen-Fleming’s mother and stepfather to stand trial on charges that they took him to Colorado to avoid arrest.
The case is scheduled to continue when Smith and Outen-Fleming return to court next month.
