MILFORD TWP., Pa. – A Mass Casualty Incident was declared following an accident with heavy entrapment on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Sunday morning, authorities say.
Emergency response teams were dispatched to I-476 North near Steinburg Road shortly after 8 a.m. for an auto extraction, officials say.
It’s not clear how many cars were involved, but at least one ended up traveling off the roadway and down an embankment.
According to authorities, the extraction involved a coordinated effort between several different fire and emergency response crews.
Crews on scene confirmed that one patient was heavily entrapped in a vehicle, and four additional patients required transportation to the hospital.
Due to the number of patients involved, a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) was declared, Milford Volunteer Fire Company says.
Authorities say that no further details will be released at this time.
