IMPACT: Rainy start to fall with widespread rain possible in south-central Pennsylvania
SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY, Pa. —
The first day of fall will bring the coolest and wettest weather of the week to the Susquehanna Valley.
The WGAL News 8 Storm Team has declared Tuesday an Impact Day, meaning the weather will likely disrupt your normal daily schedule or routine.
After a dry start to the day, scattered showers will develop late morning into the afternoon, as low pressure moves along the Pennsylvania-Maryland state line. After a brief lull Monday evening, rain will return overnight and become widespread before Tuesday morning’s commute.
Timing Monday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Scattered showers likely. Monday evening into night — Showers diminish temporarily before light to moderate rain returns overnight.

Early Tuesday morning — Widespread rain is expected. It could become moderate at times after 3 a.m. Tuesday morning commute — Light to moderate rain, watch for ponding on the roads. Tuesday afternoon into evening — Showers continue before tapering by evening.

Impacts and totals
Severe weather or flooding is not expected during Tuesday’s rain. Drivers are advised to use caution on wet roads.
Rain totals will range between 0.50″ and 0.75″ for most, with isolated totals up to 1″.
Tuesday’s highs will reach the low 60s under cloudy skies.
What’s next
A few showers may linger Wednesday morning before drier air arrives during the afternoon and evening. The high will reach 64 degrees.
High pressure will bring cool, crisp and dry weather Thursday, followed by brighter conditions and a high near 70 degrees Friday.
A coastal storm will pass offshore during the weekend, potentially bringing a few showers Saturday or Sunday. No significant impacts are expected in the Susquehanna Valley.
