Berks Encore will host its annual Senior Expo Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading. The event is free and open to the public. Older adults, caregivers, families and community members are invited to connect with vendors offering information on senior services, Medicare and insurance, housing, legal and financial matters, health and wellness, recreation and other community resources. It will feature educational seminars, cooking and wellness demonstrations and contests.
Attendees are encouraged to support Berks Encore’s beSanta initiative by bringing an item for a homebound senior. BARTA’s Stuff-A-Bus will be located outside the stadium’s main gates to collect donations. Suggested items include large-print activity books, adult coloring books, colored pencils, lotion, jar openers, small notepads and electric or microwavable heating pads.
Pride art show
Reading Pride Celebration, in partnership with WCR Center for the Arts, will present its fourth annual Art Show Sept. 25 through Nov. 15 at WCR, 140 N. Fifth St., Reading. The exhibition celebrates LGBTQ+ artists and allies from Berks County and beyond. Some works will be available for purchase.
The Gallery Reception & Performance Showcase will take place Oct. 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. at WCR. The reception is free and open to the public and will include light refreshments and a cash cocktail bar benefiting Reading Pride’s year-round programs.

Homestead dedication
On Oct. 3 at 10:30 a.m., the Nicholas Stoltzfus Homestead, 1700 Tulpehocken Road, Wyomissing, will dedicate the new Beiler-Renno Pavilion, a community gathering space built with materials preserved from early Amish immigrant homesteads. The dedication ceremony will include reflections and historical presentations from Stoltzfus family descendants and committee leaders. The event is free and open to the public.
Heemet Fescht
Heemet Fescht takes place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kutztown University’s Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center, 22 Luckenbill Road. It includes music in the barnyard, traditional crafts, presentations, folklife demonstrations, hearth cooking, farm animals, children’s activities and more. moyer, and “Popular Songs from the Revolution to Vietnam” by Keith Brintzenhoff.

Stroll and Roll
Reading District Libraries and Berks Nature present Nature Stroll & Roll on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Berks Nature, 575 St. Bernardine Street, Reading.
The all-ages program is designed with accessibility and mobility in mind. Whether participants are walking, rolling with a wheelchair, using a cane or walker or simply prefer a slower-paced outing, the program offers a relaxed way to experience the outdoors.

Tree history
The Historical Society of the Cocalico Valley is holding a program on “Historical Trees of Lancaster County” Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 167 E. Main St., Ephrata. Len Eiserer will speak of local, still living trees with intriguing, historical connections including the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial, and a Confederate officer who served with Gen. Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson.

History hike
A history hike is set for Oct. 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Historic Dreibelbis Farm on Route 143 near Virginville. Admission is free, though donations to the farm’s preservation projects are appreciated. The hike will feature stops of special interest along the farm’s lanes and trails. Participants should wear boots or sturdy shoes.

Theology with a Twist
Theology with a Twist presents “Asset Mapping: Creative Ways to Use What Your Church Already Has.” The program will be presented Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Kutztown Tavern, 272 W. Main St. The Rev. Becky Sausser will talk about how to make the most of items and attributes in churches.

Coming to Historic Ephrata Cloister:
A lecture on Ephrata Cloister Military Hospital presented Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. with site administrator Bradley Smith. The annual Day of Music is set for Oct. 11 from 1 to 3 p.m. on the cloister grounds. These musical performances invite audiences to enjoy the rich musical legacy of the 18th century featuring original compositions by members of the historic Ephrata community as well as selections from other early American musical traditions, European classical works and global musical traditions. Wood workshop
A program on woodworking with traditional hand tools will be held Oct. 17 from 9:30 to 3:30 at the Mennonite Heritage Center, Harleysville, Montgomery County. The workshop, led by woodworker John W. Munro, is intended for novice and intermediate woodworkers to learn the use of traditional hand tools in carving and making traditional wooden items.
