Cael’s Climb 5K raises over $100K for rare epilepsy awareness

Runners came out to support first grader Cael Hill, a first grader who has a rare form of epilepsy called Dravet syndrome.

SCRANTON, Pa. — Runners took off in Lackawanna County to raise awareness for a rare neurological condition. 

The third annual Cael’s Climb 5K and family fun day began at nine this morning at McDade Park in Scranton. 

Dozens of runners came out to support a little boy named Cael Hill. 

The first grader has Dravet syndrome, which is a rare form of epilepsy. 

Cael’s family organized the run as a way to raise money for research into finding a cure for a syndrome that’s often overlooked. 

“In today’s world, so many syndromes are not often heard of or funded. We want to make sure that the world knows of Dravet syndrome and how children and some adults suffer from it today,” said Brian Marcks.

The Hill’s raised over $100,000 so far through the annual 5K.
