A 23-year-old Wilkes-Barre man faces charges after breaking into a garage and trying to break into a nearby residence in Clifford Twp. on Sunday morning, Greenfield Twp. Police Chief Justin Ezerskis said.
Police responded to 5503 Cottrell Road at 11:13 a.m. for a report of a burglary in progress and found Carson Taylor inside an unoccupied garage, Ezerskis said. There were people inside the home at that address during the time of the break-in, he added.
Ezerskis said Taylor began resisting and kicked him before the police chief took him into custody.
Taylor also attempted to break into a house across the street from the garage around 6:20 a.m. Sunday, but the owner didn’t call the police at the time, Ezerskis said.
Police charged Taylor — who Ezerskis noted was highly under the influence of a substance during the incident — with burglary, criminal trespass, resisting arrest, public drunkenness, harassment and narcotics-related charges.
Taylor was remanded to Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.
