A food and commercial workers’ union is asking a Pennsylvania state court to invalidate a portion of the state’s labor relations law that explicitly exempts agriculture workers from collective bargaining rights.
The exclusion of farmworkers from the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Act violates the equal protection and anti discrimination clauses in the state’s constitution, the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1776 KS said in a complaint filed Monday.
