Two men were found guilty Monday of charges related to a shooting at Allentown nightclub last year that killed an Upper Macungie Township man and injured several others.
David Rivera, 27, and Pedro Paulino, 37, both of Allentown, were convicted following a days-long trial in the Feb. 4, 2025, shooting at BKK Lounge, an after-hours club at 1500 Union Blvd., that killed Ivan Diaz Jr. 32, Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan said in a news release.
Rivera was found guilty of first-degree homicide, and he faces a mandatory life sentence. Paulino was convicted of third-degree murder, and faces a possible sentence of 50-100 years in prison, according to the DA.
Diaz was killed around 4 a.m., after a fight spilled out in the parking lot of BKK Lounge and shots were fired, police said. The shooting happened after security guards, including Diaz, tried to separate the groups that were fighting, city police have said.
Surveillance footage showed Rivera and Paulino getting guns from a silver vehicle before firing them at a group of people. They then fled in that vehicle.
Diaz was shot in the torso, another man was shot in the thigh, a third man was shot in the foot, and a woman was shot in both legs, police said.
Both men also were found guilty on three counts each of attempted murder and aggravated assault, as well as a felony count of carrying a firearm without a license. They will be sentenced in November.
