A Halloween-themed pop-up in Northern Liberties is embracing Philadelphia’s literary history. Edgar Allan Poe and the Headless Horseman will unite in a book-lined speakeasy for one unforgettable experience.

According to a PhillyVoice report, a six-week fall immersive experience, The Pumpkin Press at The Newsroom Philadelphia, blends New York’s Sleepy Hollow legend with Philadelphia’s Edgar Allan Poe heritage at 1102 Germantown Ave. in Northern Liberties. This collaboration links New York’s literary origins with Philadelphia’s Poe-inspired literary legacy.

Atmospheric decor — including glowing pumpkins, candlelight, foliage, and hidden spaces — will transform the venue into an autumnal live narrative with theatrical cocktails and a bespoke menu.

Nearby landmarks, including the Edgar Allan Poe National Historic Site, anchor the experience’s literary context. The site is the only surviving Philadelphia home where Poe lived. He called the surviving house at the site home from 1843 to 1844.

The pop-up will feature themed cocktails such as The Headless Horseman (mezcal with smoke), Moon Over Sleepy Hollow (vodka and pomegranate), a Pumpkin Spice Old Fashioned, and The Raven’s Cauldron (large-format rum for four with dry ice).

According to a New Jersey Stage report, the seasonal cocktail menu accompanies The Newsroom’s Japanese-inspired food offerings. In the meantime, weekly programming gives guests a different way to experience The Pumpkin Press throughout the season, including Wine Down Wednesdays, Martinis & Karaoke, live performances over dinner, DJs, and a bottomless Sunday brunch.

The PhillyVoice notes that the Pumpkin Press will remain open through Nov. 1 before The Newsroom replaces it with its holiday theme. Reservations are encouraged and are available through Resy.
