BERKS COUNTY, Pa. – A number of projects benefiting first responders in Berks County are receiving state grants.
$400,000 is being awarded to the Exeter Township Volunteer Fire Department for a planned fire station and emergency services center at DeMoss and Gibraltar roads.
Additionally, the Central Berks Regional Police Department is getting $150,000 to remodel their station with locker rooms, ventilation, lighting, and plumbing upgrades.
Plus, $175,000 will help the Muhlenberg Township Fire Department buy a new fire truck.
Lastly, the Mount Penn Volunteer Fire Company is getting more than $84,000 for a new vehicle.
“It’s really important to bring money back to our fire department. These are services people don’t need every day, but when they need them, they want the fire department and the people that work there to be able to get there and take care of whatever problem they are having,” said PA Rep. Jacklyn Rusnock of the 126th district.
