Cayden Greenwell, Will Deopere and the Bethlehem boys’ soccer team completely dominated Shawnee in Sunday’s All ‘A’ sectional game.

Greenwell and Deopere each notched a hat trick as the Eagles rolled to a 7-0 victory over the Golden Eagles in the small-school state tournament’s sectional round Sunday evening at Five Star Field.

Deopere also added an assist for Bethlehem (4-5-1), which led just 2-0 at the half before erupting for five goals in the final 40 minutes.

Abbott Masterson also scored for the Eagles, while Ethan Mullins, Conner Denton and Brody Mouser each had one assist.

Goalkeeper Brady Matherly stopped all eight shots on goal he faced from Shawnee, recording his fourth shutout of the season.

Bethlehem advanced to this weekend’s All ‘A’ State Tournament at Louisville Collegiate. The Eagles will take on Owensboro Catholic at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the tournament quarterfinals.

Prior to that, the Eagles were scheduled to play at 5th Region rival North Hardin Tuesday and host region rival John Hardin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Spencer County 2, Nelson County 2

Santiago Hinestroza and Logan Vowels each scored once as the Cardinals and Bears played to a draw Monday night.

Blake Vowels added one assist for Nelson County, which is now 6-8-1 on the year.

Goalkeeper Easton Curtsinger stopped 11 of the 13 shots on goal he faced from Spencer County.

Nelson County, which hosted Anderson County Tuesday night, plays at region rival Elizabethtown at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

GIRLS

Bethlehem 4, Woodford County 1

Sophia Miles, Catherine Deopere, Neely Cheek and Josey Hite each scored once as the Banshees topped the Yellowjackets on the road Saturday.

Zoe Thurmond, Allie Greenwell and Karson Haggard each added an assist as Bethlehem improved to 10-4 on the season.

Goalkeeper Reonna Morgan stopped five of the six shots on goal she faced from Woodford County.

The Banshees, who hosted Brown in the All ‘A’ sectionals Tuesday night, host South Oldham at 8 tonight.

Bardstown 4, Barren County 1

The Tigers won for the third time in five matches, topping the visiting Trojans Monday night at Garnis Martin Field.

The Cardinals split two games over the past few days, playing to a scoreless draw with Western Hills Monday night and getting shut out by Bullitt East Saturday.

The Generals won two of their five matches during the Bryan Station Invitational in Lexington last weekend.
