Patricia Michelle Weiss Clemons
OBITUARY
Patricia “Patti” Michelle Weiss Clemons, 77, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Patti was a woman of faith who devoted herself to her family, cherished her friendships, and faced life with remarkable strength and tenacity. She spent much of her adult life in St. Augustine, Florida, where she built a life centered on family, service, and community.
While raising her daughters, Patti learned sign language and later founded one of Northeast Florida’s first sign language interpreting services, serving as its CEO. Often working around the clock, she partnered with state and county agencies and members of the broader community to bridge communication gaps and open doors for those she served. For many years, her older daughter worked alongside her as an interpreter, and the mother-daughter team became affectionately known within the Deaf community as “The Judds.” Patti was deeply committed to helping others be seen and heard.
Patti also treasured visiting her younger daughter in the Washington, D.C., area, where she admired the cherry blossoms, enjoyed international cuisine, and created many loving memories around the nation’s capital. Naturally social, she formed meaningful connections wherever she went.
Patti was the daughter of Matthew T. Weiss and Felicia B. Chrapowicki Weiss. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Matthew T. Weiss Jr.; and his wife, Carol. She is survived by her sister, Barbara F. Weiss Viola (Gene); her daughters, Melanie R. James (James) and Amanda B. Clemons; her grandchildren, Gabrielle and Monet; and her great-grandson, Dalton.
A Celebration of Life will be held later this year.
