PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Philadelphia’s iconic Rocky Statue is being placed into its new home.

Workers put the final touches on moving the statue of the fictional boxer to a more permanent fixture at the top of the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Wednesday.

The statue spent the last several months inside the museum as part of an exhibit, while a replica on loan from Sylvester Stallone stood stop the steps outside.

Crews have been working for the past few weeks to build a supportive underground foundation for the statue.

A 12-foot statue of late boxing champ Joe Frazier now sits in the previous home of the Rocky Statue at the base of the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps.
