Police: Fight leads to stabbing in Downtown Pittsburgh, 2 injured

PITTSBURGH —
A fight involving four girls led to a stabbing in downtown Pittsburgh early Wednesday evening, public safety officials said.
Pittsburgh police officers responded to the incident in Market Square around 5 p.m. Police said pepper spray was used to break up the fight.
“Preliminary information indicates a group of four juvenile females was involved in a physical altercation when one of the juveniles produced a knife and slashed another juvenile in the throat,” according to a statement from Pittsburgh Public Safety. “The victim sustained a superficial slash wound. A second juvenile sustained a stab wound to the hand.”

Public safety officials said both victims were taken to the hospital in stable condition.
The person responsible will be charged with aggravated assault, and three other juveniles face citations, officials said.
