Bill’s Cafe, 1102 E. 26th St., closed July 26, 2007, after being in the Serafini family for more than 50 years. Tom Irish, daytime bartender and regular patron, said at the time, “It’s an era coming to the end. …The mom-and -pop corner bars are going by the wayside, just as your old mom-and-pop grocery stores did.
