Fight between young women in Market Square leaves 2 stabbed, 1 in police custody

PITTSBURGH — Police broke up a fight in Downtown Pittsburgh that left two people stabbed Wednesday.

Officers were called to Market Square around 5 p.m., according to the Pittsburgh Public Department.

Officials say four young women were fighting when one of them pulled out a knife. She allegedly slashed another girl, leaving a minor cut on her throat, and stabbed another girl in the hand.

Reporter Rich Pierce shares new video of the moments right after the chaos, coming up on 11 at 11.

Police used pepper spray to separate them and arrested the suspect.

Medics took both victims to the hospital, where they’re said to be stable. The two other girls were treated for pepper spray exposure.

Three of the girls will reportedly be cited. The suspect was originally going to be charged with aggravated assault, but charges were upgraded to attempted homicide.
