Naloxone distributed in Pennsylvania communities on National Save a Life Day
The Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs distributed naloxone, an opioid-reversal drug, in communities across the state, including York and Lebanon, as part of National Save a Life Day.
The event is part of a nationwide movement to provide naloxone, also known as Narcan, which can be lifesaving during an opioid overdose.
According to the Pennsylvania Office of Drug Surveillance and Misuse Prevention, there were more than 2,800 drug overdose deaths in 2025, representing a 16% decrease compared to 2024.
“State health center staff do not ask for identification or insurance information. They provide support without judgment. Their goal is to help ensure people have access and instructions for this lifesaving, easy-to-use medication,” Pennsylvania Health Secretary Dr. Debra Bogen said.
The event also included a demonstration on how to administer naloxone.
