A slow-moving nor’easter is expected to bring some rain and high winds to the Lehigh Valley this weekend, forecasters said.

The main threat remains along the New Jersey coast, where 2 to 4 inches of rain is expected and coastal flood warnings have been issued.

Forecasters expected a half inch to 1 inch of rain to fall Saturday into Sunday in the Lehigh Valley. Wind gusts of 30 to 45 mph also are expected through Saturday night.

“It should be noted that strong winds may not occur during the entire duration of the advisory inland, but bands of moderate rainfall and soggy ground combined with these winds may cause tree damage and isolated power outages,” forecasters said in their daily forecast discussion.

Anyone heading to the shore should be aware of dangerous rip currents and rough surf through Sunday, in addition to the flooding risks.

Ahead of the storm, temperatures Friday are expected to be pleasant but windy, with a high near 75 and wind gusts up to 30 mph.

Sunday: Rain. High near 64. North wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
