The Pittsburgh Penguins assigned defenseman Phil Kemp to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League on Friday after he cleared waivers.
A right-handed shot, Kemp spent the entire 2025-26 season as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s captain. Skating in a team-high 70 games, Kemp had 10 points (three goals, seven assists).
Kemp, 27, is in the final year of a two-year, two-way contract with a salary cap hit of $850,000.
