The Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) has released an updated statewide report on the ongoing measles outbreak:
Case Count & Location: There are now 890 confirmed measles cases across 39 counties in Pennsylvania so far in 2026. This includes an increase of 55 new positive cases since September 23.
Hospitalizations & Deaths: The outbreak has resulted in 173 total hospitalizations and 4 confirmed measles-associated deaths.
Vaccination Status: Less than 1% of the total cases (only 4 individuals) occurred in fully vaccinated people. The DOH emphasizes that the two-dose MMR vaccine provides 97 percent lifetime protection and remains the most effective defense against the virus.
